I have a Quicksilver 300 Airdeck (inflatable) which is rated to 15hp. I have Just replaced the 5hp Johnson with a 2005 Yamaha 15 Short shaft 2 stroke. The engine appears to sit too low on this short Transom and at speed pumps large quantities of water straight into the back of the boat. There is alot of turbulence around the leg. How do I safely raise this motor on the timber transom. I don't really want to bolt it on as I like to take the motor off when i'm finished with it but I don't want to lose my new motor off the back either. What is the best material to use to raise it and should it be fixed to the transom? I use this motor on another boat without problems.

a permanent fix would likely be aluminium box section bolted to the transom. if it doesnt need to be raised much use a wood spacer between the top of the transom and the engine.
