Raw water impeller question.

So on my 5.7 build i have finally got to the parts on outside of Engine. and i was looking at the raw water pump thinking about getting the rubber impeller when i noticed this wear on the inside. Pic ,

looks like you sucked up rocks and debris.......so buy a new pump. (hint, its a johnson pump, buy direct from johnson , not from volvo penta and save money)

On a side note, one of our customers services his boat himself had an overheat issue, he had tried the clear hose trick, cleaned the ps cooler, thermostat, checked all fittings for leaks. then he had us looking at it. I did all the stuff he had done also. The last thing I told him was possibly the housing surface might be wore enough to cause the issue. He installed a new pump and the issue went away. His pump didn’t look as bad as yours but wear showed its ugly head.

My marine mechanic with 40 years in the business told me to run it. Replace impeller.
