RE:1985 Johnson 25 HP Model # J25TECOS

My fiishing partner has bought a 1985 Johnson Electric start motor with remote control key ignition and it runs fine but there is a hole in the front of the lower engine cover. What control was taken out of that hole? Possibly a shorting switch. Any help will be appreciated.

I have the same motor. 1985 Johnson 25 HP Motor # J25TECOS. My rewind spring broke today & I desperately would like to know if there is anywhere I could get instructions on how to replace the spring.

I also would like to know if there is any other steps to be taken when spring is replaced: IE, lubrication, cleaning, replacing any other parts ETC?
