I have an 88 Cobalt 17BR I/O with vinyl seats on either end of the engine compartment cover. I removed them during the winter to clean them and now I want to re-install them. The engine compartment cover is covered with the same vinyl as the seats and when I removed the seats the two vinyls were stuck together making me think that the factory had applied some adhesive.

Should I apply some kind of adhesive between the seat and the vinyl on the engine cover? If so, what would you recommend?

Re: Re-Installing Vinyl Seats - need adhesive?

Are you sure some sticky crap didn't leak down in there, like a spilled drink? Also, is the area prone to come apart? Does it seem like it should have some glue in there, or does it seem unnecessary?

My first inclination is to say it sounds like it doesn't need it, but I'm not totally sure what surfaces you're looking at.
