Hey guys,
First time posting here. Not sure if I'm in the right forum, feel free to correct me.
I have an 1986 Lund Tyee 5.5 that I am looking into replacing the outboard on. My main concern is the extra weight of a new four stroke. I'll start by staying it was my dad's boat he bought in new. It was powered by a 1979 Mercury v150. It was later re-powered with a Mercury 125 two stroke, which has that cylinder shutdown. I think it sucks. So, I'm looking into new mercury 150 four stroke, I know it's a lot of money for an old boat, but, the transom had been replaced and it does have some sentimental value.
So, is a new four stroke too heavy? (about 480 LBS) The current motor is about 360 LBS, give or take. I know the boat was designed for the lighter two strokes of the time.
Any input is appreciated! Thanks
