I know some folks on here said they had good luck with Flying Fish carbs out of florida but not good for me.
I ordered one from them a few weeks ago and the carb i got was junk. It had been beat on like someone was trying to get the float unstuck. The top was dented up.
The fitting where the yellow fuel pump line hooks to the back was broke off and not in the box.
I looked the Rochester ID number up that was on it and it was from 1976...They want my old carb back as a core but it is about 10 years newer.
I called them over a week ago and they told me to ship them my old carb and they would reman that one.So i thought i would give them a chance to make good on this.
well, called them today and they acted like they didn't know what i was talking about and they can't find my carb!Said they would call me back and never did.
So 276 dollars later and i got a beat up crap carb.
Also their idea of remanufactured is throwing a rebuild kit in and spraying it with black spray paint!
I think i have learned an expensive lesson..
Buyer beware!!

If you used a credit card tell them you are going to stop payment or constest the sale and they will call you. If they do not call then do it.

I was thinking about that.I payed thru Paypal but it was with a credit card.
If i don't get something resolved tomorrow i will call my credit card company and see what they say. It's worth a try anyway.
They better find my carb. I should have just rebuilt it myself.I just didn't really have time to..

Yep Bondo,I got the owner on the phone this morning.
And guess what! They found my carb. Said it would be ready and shipped out by the end of the week.
It better be MY carb that shows up at my door. Not another old one..

Re: Really Ticked Off!!

hey boatist....

just so you know, in most cases you cannot stop the payment through your credit card agency... if you read the small print on the agreement you sign when you get your card, or even the receipt you sign at the store, or even online cc agreements...

the sellers forms state that you will abide by the credit cards rules to make the payment.

and your agency usually says that you have to take up any disscrepancies with the seller, and once you sign the reciept, or use the online code feature, unless its blatant fraud... you cant stop payment...

i know this cause'...
my wife had a amp put in her jeep, when she left it seemed to work, when she decided to listen to a cd the player just spit out an error message...

so she went back and they said that it worked when they gave it to her, and that actually this type of thing happens all the time with jeeps... and the player just needed "reprogramming" so she called me, and i knew right away that the installer had messed something up...

so i tried to stop payment, to which the credit agency just said, that payment could not be stopped, and if i needed a refund i would have to talk to the seller...
so now we have to wait to hear from the car dealer shop and see whos fault it is, ours or the installers...

so, in conclusion....
allways use paypal online...

Very interesting as my card advertizes if you dont get what you payed for you can challange and also give you an extended warranty.

Then I never had to do it and have not read the fine print.

Anyway sounds like things are going to work out OK.

Just one warning about Paypal. These days they charge you a $25 fee for refunds even if something was never delivered to you.

Re: Really Ticked Off!!

I just had a dispute with a credit card purchase. Purchase was "suspended" till resolved. Made the company want to resolve it to my satisfaction. Resolved within 30 days.

Thanks Art.
i got my original carb back from them.It was rebuilt and looks like new.
Bad thing is its too cold to put it on and see how it runs.
I'm supposed to send the first rebuilt back to them for a 68 dollar credit to my account thru PayPal.
I may hold it hostage untill i test my carb.

Re: Really Ticked Off!!

True Bondo, but it is a rebuilt and would probably run fine.It was just much older than the one i was replacing originally. The banged up top on it looks kind of rough but had been repainted.I can tell it has a new choke and gaskets ect..was thinking about putting it on ebay.
I know that is a hard to find carb.It was used on a lot of 70's gm 305 and 350 engines.
But i better send it back so i don't feel guilty..:/
Most websites sell it for around 250..
