Rear Bunks Questions

Have a 14' Alum V. Trailer have 3 rollers and a set of rear bunks. In process of replacing bunks. Current bunks are setup to move up & down as boat is launched. Should I keep them this way or bolt them down so they dont move? Also, does it matter if I move bunks closer to center of trailer, at current location rear of boat doesn't always center onto the trailer.

If you are having trouble launching and retreiving, do some research on how to properly set up a boat trailer.

If your current setup meets all your requirements, then just replace what you have with new parts in like kind. No need to reinvent the wheel. The old trailers with 3 rollers and short pivoting bunks worked better than some of the crap they sell today.

That type of trailer was meant to be used with the adage of launch deep, retrieve shallow.

Best to get the trailer just deep enough that the rear most roller is just under the water and then winched up. The tension of the cable/strap will pull the boat straight up almost every time. I say almost as wind or current can push you off when 1st starting to load. Also with a 14' boat it doesn't take long to winch'm up.
