Here is the page about the Recirculation System Servicing from the 1990 OMC Johnson Evinrude manual for my 1990 115 Johnson.


In this page they are testing two different one way valves:
#1 they call the recirculation check valve, and it's supposed to flow ONLY out towards the barb
#2 they call cylinder block or bypass hose fitting, and it is supposed to flow in towards the threads, or in other words into the barb.
I'm confused, since they don't show where the #1 check valve is located, nor do they show the part numbers for either part. They do show what #1 looks like, but no part number nor location. They do show more or less where #2 goes but not the part number or what it looks like.
I'm confused as to what is what, and what I'm supposed to do to "it". Two different check valves that flow in different directions.
