Hello all,

I have a question about the rectififer on my 1990 90hp force motor, It is on a 18ft bayliner capri. When I was out this morning I notice a strange smell from the motor. When i look closer i noticed that the rectifier had a burn mark on it byy the bottom wires. Is it common for a rectifier to just go or should I check for other issues. I know that electrical parts tend to just wear out and go.

Thanks

Dave

Re: rectifier

They can just go bad.
Sometimes there is an external cause, like touching the battery cables to the wrong battery post.

Re: rectifier

Roscoe,

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a picture of one, I ordered one at the local marnina who carries force parts. I tried to find on on this site but none look like the one I took off. I guess it does not matter what it look like as long as it does the job. I gave them the model number 906A00C. I hope I get the right one.

Thanks again
