Re: remodeling kingscraft house boat

Great discussion.

We are remodeling a '73 55 Kingscraft. Since June we have taken it down to the frame and removed all the wiring, plumbing, mechanical, and hull fittings. Sanded the entire boat and rechalked the joints.

Next we are replacing the fuel tanks and replacing the windows with modern ones.

Hope to rewire, plumbing, and get the floor in this winter. Lots of time and money but we will essentially have a new boat when we are done!

Will be looking for advice once it starts to go back together!

Take Care

Tom

Do you have pictures? I'm buying a 1975 55' that needs all the same things done to it.

Good luck

Re: remodeling kingscraft house boat

Hows the remodeling coming? My inside is basically complete. I have had the starboard engine running, have a few small items to correct on it. The port engine had water on top of #4 piston. Engine appears to be seized. Working now to get it freeded up. Still hav the decks to finish, trying to get the old carpet glue off. Any sugestions as to removing it other than sanding? We have named the boat " SOLDI FOSSA : ha ha, if you can figure out what it means then you will laugh.

Re: remodeling kingscraft house boat

Fraannk,

I know this is an old thread but I just came across it.. My wife & I just purchased a '72 Kingscraft 44' houseboat last month and we did not get any manuals for anything. I've figured out the electrical and engines but I know nothing about getting the water/plumbing system going. This boat had been winterized and docked in water for the last two years. Only about an inch of water back under the engines so I think that's pretty good.

My question is do you have any manuals on the water system? If not, could you give me some advise on how I should go about getting it to work? What I should check for and where? I really have no idea.

I've checked and replaced all the fuses both on the 12v and 110v panels. I don't see any obvious switch to turn on and kind of water pump, only switches for the bilge pumps.

ANY information/advise you can give would be REALLY appreciated.

Thank you,
-Jon

What all are you going to do to it? I can answer questions on plumbing, water pumps, showers, toilets and stuff like that. I have remodeled one and am in the process of redoing another. I have also done a lot of research on Onan generators if you have one of those on it. My advice is to make sure the bottom is good, then make sure the top is watertight, then worry about engines and interior stuff.

Jon, welcome to the forum. Please don't knowingly reply to old threads. That's why we have the RED BOX at the bottom the screen before your posted...

12. Please do not post to threads that have been inactive for more than 3 months UN-LESS you are the original poster. We have very active forums and any thread that remains inactive for that long should be considered "dead". It is especially confusing when there is an entirely new question posted to an old thread. This is considered a hijack. Please start a new thread of your own.

Thanx,
