Re: Removeable swing tongue?

If a trailer must sit outside, why bother with a swing tongue when a "removable" tongue makes much more sense and it can be detached by pulling the single pin. With the tongue jack behind the joint, there is nothing for teives to hook onto. They could of course come with their own removable tongue, but again, a lock through the pin slows them down.

again, all they have to do is sling a chain around the remainder of the trailer and the bumper of their truck and roll out.... they aren't heading cross country, just to stash it in the woods or behind a barn a couple miles away while they strip it.

insurance and or lojack... otherwise just lock it up... a coupler lock is just as effective as removing the tongue.

I can only speak for myself but the swing tongue makes mine fit in the garage. Sometimes the wife kicks the boat out of the garage, or if I'm at a resort or some place like that I like the extra insurance of another lock on the swing tongue.
