Checkout the photos I've attached, I figured everyone would get a good kick out of them. I removed a 4.3L Mercruiser from my 22' Bayliner, the engine cleared the boat by less than one inch. I probably wouldn't do this again, that's my I'm having my mechanic install my new motor instead of me probably dropping it. The front tires of my truck were nearly off the ground, but I was able to pull forward enough to get the motor to clear the boat.

Enjoy!

i did it like fbt. probably got the idea from him even... plenty of height. just pull the boat out from underneath it..

fwiw. ya could always put a few men on the ft. of the truck. i had me a tree removed the other day. the bobcat was having trouble removing the large pieces of it. it was too heavy. a man on the back of the bobcat fixed it being ft. heavy with the tree part that was being picked up.. i still like the Aframe idea better though...

Re: Removing a Mercruiser 4.3L V6

I was going to buy a come-along and hook it up to a tree limb, but a buddy of mine said that he's had luck using the shop jack on the back of his pickup. The only main difference ... on his trailer, his boat is 5' off the ground, mine is probably 8' maybe 9'. In the pics the trailer wheels are at the bottom of a small incline in my yard, so it only looks like the boat is 6' or 7' off the ground.

I'm w/ Zig and FBT on that one plus you can use the A frame to put it or the next engine back in for the same price + you got 1/2 a swing set for the kids if you gotum or a seat swing for you and the Hen.

Looks like you may have exceeded your payload capacity, but those trucks are tough. I would've done it.
