Removing all wires and cables from F150 VMAX

I have to disconnect all wires and cables going to my motor in order to replace the rigging grommet that is attached to the motor at the end of the rigging hose. The motor got trimmed up a little too high after putting the boat on the trailer and broke off a small piece of the grommet. The motor is a 2000 Yamaha 150 carbed VMAX.

Is there any special precautions I should take before doing this? Such as disconnecting the battery, etc? Besides trying to remember where everything goes when I connect things back up that is.

post a model number, the F150 cannot be a vmax.

I meant to say V150. I was talking on the phone to a friend who has a F150 and telling him about this while I was trying to type the post. I guess I had F150 on the brain at the time.

Model number is V150TLRY. Tag on the motor says made in 1999 and it was bought new in 2000.

Disconnect the battery first. Most of the wiring connections will only plug up one way. Yamahas basically plug up color to color.

I thought it would be fairly straight forward. Just wanted to make sure that I covered all of my bases. Wouldn't want to accidently short out any electronics and such.
