I'm attempting to remove the carbs from my outboard for the first time to clean them. Now, consider that, while I'm a relatively quick learner, I'm not the most mechanically inclined fellow you're likely to come across. So, I've removed the plastic front cover, disconnected the fuel line from the filter to the pump, and unbolted the carbs (the entire mechanism) from the outboard. The only thing left connected is the choke and I'm at a bit of a loss on how to disconnect it . The only bolt I can find is the one that connects to the actual arm mechanism at the lower spring and when turned it actually lifts the arms. Before I force anything, is this the bolt I want to remove (would have to manually hold the arms from lifting and then apply pressure to the bolt)? Can't find any literature on it online and, while I plan on purchasing a Clymer manual in the future, I don't want to wait for it right now for this particular job.
BTW, I'm fully anticipating not being able to finish this and it ending up at the local Marine repair shop anyways but thought I'd learn a few things in the meantime and might just surprise myself.
Any advice? Thanks in advance
