I have a strong fuel smell coming from center console ,so I'm inspecting and replacing all fuel lines.I'm need some advise on taking the suzuki shifter cables('97 dt 150) off from a yamaha control box(early '90 top mount). Also do I need to know any thing special taking steering cables off from a manual steering set-up?I think I've gotten everything else loose to take console off.Any advise on these two issues would be greatly appreciated.

Re: removing center console

The smell was a leaky vent hose close to tank. The control cables from suzuki were easily removed after getting a diagram from yamaha of box.To keep the adjustment nuts for cables from moving I counted threads between cable and nut then taped it stationary and wrote thread # on tape. All electrical wire connectors were color matched.I'd advise someone to take picture of everything before disassembly.
