Removed all bolts holding trim, now the piston connected to the motor, there were two pins on either side holding a bolt that is rounded on both sides. I thought that taking the pins out the bolt should slide out. Not so easy, it looks like on both sides that it's to big to slide though. So, how do I get this out?? Any ideas, I have some pics if that will help.

Steve,I gather you are speaking of the tilt ram rod pin. What year is your motor.Mine is a pin with grooves and snap rings. Are there any signs that this pin has been hammered on and mushroomed the ends.Maybe a pic would help.

Not sure what model you have, but my experience is that the motor has to be off the boat and the transom mounts have to be split to get the power trim unit out....
- Scott

I see a hint of a pin just above the trailering latch in the top photo but can't make it out too clear. This pin on mine can be removed by taking off the snap rings.

That's the one I was looking at too Rick.Picture is just a little fuzzy though and can't make out the end in question that won't punch through.I would think that if pins are retaining it ,the it could be punched out once pins are removed.

Mine looks like yours Rick except it uses snap rings ,(circlips) to retain it.The ends of the pin are grooved.

Re: Removing omc trim motor????

The original picture Steve sent me shows it mushroomed(Or just a head on it) out at the ends. I don't know if the other side has a clip on it or not, but that's where I'd be lookin. Maybe someone replaced it over the years and put in a different style pin and hopefully they didn't just mash the ends. If that's the case, it will need to be cut off or drilled out and removed, then a new pin installed in it's place. Like to see a pic of the other side Steve. Send me one if you got it. Also, what size Motor are we talkin here?

If that's the case ,it can also be ground down to pin diameter with a pecil grinder ,or at worst a file until it can be knocked through.

Steve , were you going to pull the entire assembly or just the motor as the topic title implies?
