I have a 1987 J 90hp, it has TnT, and the 35 amp regulator/rectifier (P/N 395391) on it.
I have tested the unit, it is bad.

I have a 1990 J 90hp parts motor, with a 10 amp regulator/rectifier (P/N 583529) on it.

Can i just replace the bad 35 amp unit with this 10 amp replacement?

Or is it incompatible with the Stator and timing base components?

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Seems minor, since I will have the flywheel off to access the components anyway..
What about the timer base? that shows different part numbers too.

Probably, the flywheel has a different internal dia.the larger stator, larger flywheel,so,If you have the parts ,swap the whole set ,the timer probbly wont work with the other parts
