Most people here have given good feed back

The biggest common issue is the poor paint quality IF your leaveing it in saltwater VS trailering this could be a problem ?

Re: replace Alpha one (1990) with SEI?

I've had one on my 24.5' Sportcraft with a 5.7 liter engine now for a couple of years - no mechanical issues at all. As mentioned, the only complaint is the durability of the finish. The paint, or powdercoat, whatever they use, is not very good. A small price to pay for a FAR cheaper (in money, not quality) unit.

I've sold a number of SEI units, never a complaint.
Last Sept they change their warranty from a one year conditional to a THREE YEAR UNCONDITIONAL WARRANTY.
Notice I purposely used caps. 3 yr Un-conditional. Wrap it up in fishing line taking out the seal loading it with water and ruining the bearings and gears, they will repair or replace it, no questions, no charge. Period.
Lets see Merc match that!

SE106 $695
Merc $1658.35

That's a savings of $963.35, That will buy alot of gas and beer.

FWIW - I have been running an SEI lower on my boat with no complaints.

'ell, even if you have to replace it twice, it is still cheaper.

Hi,
my mechanic is completely against SEI.... Because the gears are made in China im told with the 260 horse my boat has he thinks i will keep blowing gears.

What he was really saying, is that there is less room to hide a little extra profit, with a lower priced unit.
