I have a 1992 Wellcraft Eclipse 196 XL. The boat has a Alpha One Gen II outboard and Mercruiser 4.3l LX 4 barrel that overheated and now two rods are knocking. The older motor has the Thunderbolt IV ignition, roller cam, and fluid motor mounts. I plan to replace the broken motor with a newer 4.3l vortec long block from Rapido Marine. I discussed this with Raul and he mentioned I will need a newer intake manifold, aluminum oil pan, and electric fuel pump. Is there anything else I need that will not bolt on from the older motor? What kind of power increase can I expect from this newer generation 4.3l motor?
