I have a 81' evinrude outboard on a 16.5' older(70's) v-hull I need to replace the steering in it. My question should I get the rotary or rack and pinion from teleflex? My present system is a rack and pinion I believe because of the tube metal rack housing under the dash. Also should I spend the extra money and go for the no feedback system, I really don't think I need it just wondering what the opinions are.

Strat,

If you are not having "torque steer" problems now, I wouldn't see a need for the no feedback type.

You can find link arms at: www.westmarine.com

Re: replacement steering question.

I guessing "torque steer" is how hard it is to turn the wheel. It was pretty bad but the cable was in bad shape to also the manuals say the teleflex system the rack is for power assisted stern drives, I pretty sure I no power assistance. Which one do you recommed. Thanks.
