Hi, I don't think you have a 1985 Chrysler, as their last production year was 1984. Don't think they made an 85 hp either.<br /><br />You most likely have a 1985? US Marine Force, 85 hp.<br />We can try to verify the year for you if you post the model number.<br /><br />You can go here:<br />w.mercruiserparts.com/selectModels2.asp?type_id=FORC<br />Scroll down to the 85hp and pick a year. <br />I clicked on a few models, '85 and '88, the replacement short block part number was the same as the 1985 85 hp part number.<br /><br />THE 1989 model I clicked on, did not match.<br /><br />Then the question is which will mesh with your lower unit/driveshaft.
