1995 Volvo Penta 3.0gl mmda.
I had the misfortune of having the alternator belt break this morning and for the life of me i cannot figure out to replace it. It appears that the motor mount must be removed. Surely there is a better way??? I hope...20230506_135513.jpg

Pull the drive
Put a jack under the motor
Pull the front mount
Buy 2 belts
Replace belt
Zip tie spare belt to motor mount when you replace the mount
Remove jack
Align motor (with the alignment bar you should own)
Replace drive

Remove the 2 bolts, remove the spacer the belt is laying on, install new belt and reassemble.

tighten the bolts on the alternator and have a helper lift
bottle jack under the harmonic balancer
2x4 as a lever under alternator
couple of 2x4 across the gunnel, loop a rope thru the lifting eye and around the 2x4s, stick a long screw driver thru the rope and twist it

it doesn't take much force. when you get done -- tighten the bolts on the other side of the mount, sounds like they might be a little loose

Thanks for the help! I ran a 4x4 across the gunnels and used rachet strap through the lifting eye and over a floor jack (which fit perfectly over the 4x4). A few pumps on the jack and voila!

since the front mount moved. you still need to recheck the alignment

No.

Yes the engine moved.
Yes the engine was moved back to within a few thousands.
Nothing changed enough to justify the cost of an alignment check.
