I posted a link to the spanner wrench earlier. As far as parts, if you go to the top of this page, there is a link to parts.

Here is the new seal pressed into the outer ring. I had to tap it in like a grease seal in a rotor. Looks better than the old one.

But, the pinion is grooved quite a bit. I can easily catch my nail in it. Should I tap the seal towards the bow or stern to move the seal to a better surface of the pinion?

Set the new seal about 40 thou deeper into the carrier.

Re: Replacing cooling parts in Alpha 1 Outdrive

Got it all together and ran the boat several times in the drive way with the outdrive in a big bucket. Our ear muffs are at the lake, or we would have used those. Anyway, plenty of water coming out the exhaust and it ran like a top right at 130-140* the whole time. We ran it thru the y pipe most of the time, but disconnected it right off the manifolds and ran it like that for a few minutes, too. We noticed the port exhaust elbow was hotter to the touch than the starboard elbow. With the exhaust disconnected, there was more water (looked like more volume, definitely a little more pressure) coming out the starboard riser than the port riser. Is this normal? There are no external water leaks, and the water pump weep hole is dry...

I have no idea what you mean by that.

As inexpensive as muffs are, why don't you buy another one - that way you will have one at the lake and the house. Just a thought.

I am going to order another set of muffs. Definitely good to have a set at home.

The boat was out of the water. So, the outdrive was in a bucket and the exhaust was hooked up normally while running it. The we disconnected the exhaust right off the manifolds and let it shoot water and fumes in the bilge, (drain petcock out of course)... More water came out of the starb riser, less from the port riser, which was noticeably hotter to touch....
