Re: replacing disc brakes

That's the standard stuff and dimensions for the kit you're looking at typical to a #3500 lb axle. Might want to call or email championtrailers.com and see if there's something built for a straight spindle. I've never seen a straight spindle built for brakes at 1-3/8.

Never seen replaceable spindles, at least easily changed. You're looking at a new axle to change spindle size. Is there a chance the axle was changed at some point? Dumb question but did you check both sides on the off chance a PO added a spacer or something?

Re: replacing disc brakes

Thanks. Sad part is I have already purchased the brake kit. I need to find out if the spindle can be changed on this trailer, or if there is such a bearing size of ID 1 3/16, and OD of only 1 13/16. Everything is great except that one bearing, or the spindle size.

You're better off to change the axle complete. They can be had for the price of spindles alone and can be changed out in about 1/2 hour with basic tools.

Re: replacing disc brakes

I have a Ranger Trail boat trailer. I have a straight spindle. 1 3/8 front to back. not stepped sizes. Bought new Kodiak kit w/ hub/rotor, calipers etc. outer bearing ID is too small. Wrong brake kit? Took off disc brake assembly (rusted). What kit do I need? Thanks.
