Replacing fuel/water seperator on Mercruiser 4.3 L MPI

Not too difficult but I need to know if I should fill filter with fresh fuel before I put it on. I've tentatively sold the boat and it will be in the process of being "de-winterized" soon. I've got a Moeller # 033323-10. Should that do the trick? Thanks

Ayuh,.... The more you can pre-fill the filter, the easier it is for the fuel pump to reprime the system,.....

Necessary, probably not, beneficial, probably so,....
