I am replacing a blown head gasket on my Glastron SX175, 3.0 Volvo Penta. I blew the head gasket when my motor overheated. As a winter project, myself & a couple buddies are breaking the motor down. I'm going to have a marine mechanic put it back together for me (ALOT cheaper this way).
We have taken everything apart (bad impeller, bad exhaust bellow & bad head gasket between 2 & 3 cylinders). I am hoping that replacing the head gasket and putting it all back together is gonna work. What are the chances that this is it? I am gonna check for warping & all that before the gasket goes in. Do I need to worry about pistons, valves etc. being bad after 1 overheat?
What do you think?
