replacing ign. coil on 1978 85hp...

is replacing the ignition coil(s) on a 1978 johnson 85 hp a do it yourself type of job? i have the repair manual (series) but it doesnt have that procedure listed as far as i can tell, only how to test for a bad one... any ideas if its a do it yourselfer? note my motor has 2 coils fr the 4 cylinders...



p.s. i searched for the answers on here and found no help...

Hold on there, it should have four coils. Replacing them is an easy job, piece of cake.

Your lack of the other 2 coils may be your issue. Should be 2 on either side. Follow the plug wires and they will lead you right to the coils.

ok thanks guys... i have a manual for it and it says my year 1978 85 hp only has 2 coils... thats what it says i havent had a chance to take a look yet...
