Hi,

I am replacing the water pump in the listed motor and the manual I am looking at (I don't think it's very good) shows an o-ring at the top of the driveshaft (see pic below). I didn't see one when I pulled the lower so I am wondering if:

- there might be one stuck up the driveshaft housing somewhere
- the previous mechaninic just didn't put one on
- if there is no need for my model of motor.

If there is anyone that can help I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks!

could have broken, left out. you definately need it. helps keep water out of the splines, also grease the splines, it is extremely hard to get rusted spline out of the crank shaft.

Thanks! That was fast! I bought the impeller repair kit. I'd imagine it's in there somewhere. I take a flashlight and look up the driveshaft housing as well to see if there are remnants.

Thanks again,

Mike

That O-ring usually comes with the impeller kit.
