Re: Replacing Impeller on 1957 Sea King 25 HP
Sea King built by the Gale devision of OMC.
I believe that has a shift rod connector in the leg behind a little cover.
On that connector one of the bolts needs to be removed all the way to seperate the shift rods; as it passes through a groove in the shift rod.
If you change gearcase lube only remove the large flat head slotted vent/drain screws DON"T TOUCH THE SMALL PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW
It probably does need an impeller but be sure to check the water intake is clear. It is on the front of the exhaust snout. Also check the discharge hole about half way up the leg.
An evinrude, johnson ,gale service manual will serve there are factory reprints available right here at iboats.I have a number of aftermarket manuals I got from ebay about $15 each seem to cover pretty well and the E,J and G are covered in the same chapter.
By the way the piston pins are not on roller bearings so fuel mix should be
factory 24:1.
