Replacing Impeller on 1957 Sea King 25 HP

How do I go about changing the impeller on this motor, I just bought it and I can't get a water jet out the back. Do I simply remove the lower unit? Will this impeller be hard to find? I have read that these outboards are very much like Envinrude/Johhnsons of that time. Can I just use that impeller for the same year if I cannot find one for a 1957 Sea King? Also would anyone have access to or know where I could get a manual, this is the only need for it I have.

Ok so I posed this question on another site and got exactly what I needed. I plan on starting in a couple of hours here so any general helpful hints would be much appreciated. I do have one question about where the water is sucked into the motor at. According to some schematics provided from the other site there is a pointed end above the prop maybe 8 inches where I originally thought the water would come out of, but in the drawings they call some of the parts to it a water in take screen. So wouldn't that mean the water gets taken in at that point? I am now confused that I just did not have the engine in deep enough water for it to reach the point at which it sucks it up. It also has a smaller area right above the prop that has a bunch of small holes which is where I originally thought the water was brought up through, it labels this as a water by pass screen. Any help is appreciated.

Sea King built by the Gale devision of OMC.
I believe that has a shift rod connector in the leg behind a little cover.
On that connector one of the bolts needs to be removed all the way to seperate the shift rods; as it passes through a groove in the shift rod.
If you change gearcase lube only remove the large flat head slotted vent/drain screws DON"T TOUCH THE SMALL PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW
It probably does need an impeller but be sure to check the water intake is clear.It is on the front of the exhaust snout.Also check the discharge hole about half way up the leg.
An evinrude, johnson ,gale service manual will serve there are factory reprints available right here at iboats.I have a number of aftermarket manuals I got from ebay about $15 each seem to cover pretty well and the E,J and G are covered in the same chapter.
By the way the piston pins are not on roller bearings so fuel mix should be
factory 24:1.

OK I got it changed and all my past problems with the motor have been solved. But now it will not shift into reverse when running. I can move the lever to reverse when off but not while running. It makes this clicking noise so I quickly change it back to neutral. I am thinking I did not have the shift rod aligned to the proper height when I reattached it with the lower unit. Could this be it? The first time I attached the shift rod in it looked like it was too low because I could see a change is color right below it. I unscrewed it and tried pushing it agian. This time it looks to have lined up with the rounded part of the rod. SO now I have this shifting problem. If I have to open it up again, not all lost because I found out that a past owner replaced the hex bolts holding the lower unit with slotted screws that are a pain to try and get off without breaking.
