I'm attempting to replace an water pump impeller on 2004, 6HP because no water was spouting from tell tale.
I can identify only three bolts that need to be removed. I removed an upward-facing bolt at the back of the lower unit, and one of two downward-facing bolts next to the anode on the bottom of the lower unit (adjacent propeller). I have loosened the second of the two downward-facing bolts and have have backed it out a bit, but it is difficult to turn and not getting easier. The lower unit appears to be dropping as I back the second downward-facing bolt out.
Is it normal for this bolt to be difficult to turn?
I am also concerned that there may be a linkage I have to disconnect before I can drop the lower unit. In other words, to drop the lower unit and access the water pumpe, do I just remove the three bolts?
Thanks for your consideration.
