Replacing My Propeller Help

Replacing the propeller on my 1986 50hp Force outboard on a 24ft Pontoon, the old propeller is a A278265 I think that is a 10 inch I don?t know if that is original. What should I do to replace it right?

A 10 in by what?
10X10 ??
Should be more #s like diameter and pitch?

That's all that is on the hub, on the side is 278 10 I assume it is a 10x10 I was told a 10x10 is good for a pontoon.
I am looking to buy one just looking for anything I should know before. Good sources would help

There are not too many choices for that engine. 278-10 would indicate a 10 inch pitch. If it is working well for you, go with the same pitch.

Why do you want to replace the prop? lots of nicks? Damage? Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to repair a prop.

I am not familiar with the pontoon props for that engine but typically the props are listed as 10 3/8 diameter X pitch. HOWEVER: Sometimes as pitch gets lower, as for a 'toon application, diameter may go up . SO you may see props listed as 10 1/2 X 10. Do not worry about small increases in diameter.

Prop is in bad shape and one of the blades is cracked got a quote for new from mich wheel for around $140 did not think about repair
