I am new to this and have a Orion tri-hull 17 foot that I purchased a month ago and discovered that the deck is rotting out. I have cut into the deck and discovered that the left stringer is rotted out, however the right stringer looks gook.
I have tried to locate a diagram of the boat so I can see where to cut and not ruin the haul.
Can anyone give me advise.

Welcome,

Pictures are needed or any advise will be a best guess. Read through the pinned posts at the top of the forum lots of good information there.

Chances are the other stringer and transom are also rotted. The only way to tell is drilling core samples. The knock test usually does not work it can sound solid and be rotted.

Hull (not haul) . . .

If you have not found a diagram of the hull so far, then you probably won't

I would go ahead and cut both stringers and associated cross members out, since all will be suspect and it won't save you much time or money vs. doing the whole thing.

Once you have the deck off and any foam pulled out, the structure will be readily apparent. These things aren't designed or built by rocket scientists 😁. The most straight forward approach is to build it back the way it was, but make workmanship improvements along the way.

Post some pictures as that will help with responses.

Photos of what I have cut out so far. I am not sure how far to cut out to the port or starboard sides of the hull.

It's best to cut one to two inches in from the hull. If you're cutting with a circular saw set the depth of the blade at about 3/4 inch. That will keep you from damaging anything. Do a reality check before cutting so that you don't hit anything obvious. Cutting a bit and then prying the floor up as you go will let you see under the floor.
