replacing spring loaded safety chains

I have a trailstar trailer with spring loaded retractable safety chains. One of them does not pull out and the other get stuck. any suggestions or advise.

Never heard of such a device. I personally would want to make sure that the chains were mounted securely to the trailer frame. The spring would be a much weaker link. I might just bypass the springs altogether.

My vote is for new chains secured to the trailer frame!

Not all gadgets are good. These sound like a solution to a non-existent problem. I agree with halfmoa. Upgrade by going retro!

I'd say fix wha you've got or replace them with chains mounted to the tongue.
