Repowering Trivia

Hi, I recently bought a 16 foot Fisher Avenger Sport aluminum. It came with a 40hp Merc. It is lacking and feels underpowered to me. The boat is rated at a 75hp. My question is, will a 75hp make a huge difference or just a minimal difference? Will it have more "zip" than a 40hp? I currently get 28mph. What would a 75hp give me? Thanks for any info.

SS,<br /><br />A HUGE difference. That's almost twice the HP.<br /><br />I would expect you to top out near or at 40.

I have a 16' Spectrum Avenger SC, a copy of your boat, although mine is a little heavier. 1995, with a 1995 Force 70. It performs well and reaches @37 at wot, cruises at 30mph at 4000rpm. It maintains plane above 2900 rpm. It does well with a moderate load, but with 3 large adults, gear, full gas, and coolers, it tops out at 29-30.<br />This size and design hull really needs max hp to get decent performance. <br /><br />I hope you don't have "SS Minnow" painted on your boat. Its kind of asking for a disaster.

This is true. I always wondered why the Professor,Gilligan,the Skipper, or even Mr. Howelll never got with Mary-ann or Ginger????

The professor was too busy making Mr. howells Island viagra, and I thought gilligan and the skipper were gay?..Maryanne and ginger though.. Never could figure that one out..
