I have a 1977 Evinrude 70 HP motor and want to paint and redo the letters and striping on the motor cover, I also need a motor cover rubber gasket. I have looked for weeks for the orginal parts and have not found much.

Anyone know where I might find these item out there in internet land?

I live in Mississippi and all of the boat shops in my area ask the same question.... " what, never heard of it"

They all say to go to wal-mart and get the paint, I try to explain about most spray paint in cans has metal in it and cant seem to wrap there minds around the reason boat motors corrode. They just walk off mumbleing something about duck tape.

Thats the place that "NEVER HEARD OF IT " LOL We are dealing with stone cold rednecks here, remember that now, hahahahahahaha

You need to get that project done on your 1600 so I can see what you did. I have a 86 Bayliner and it looks a lot like yours.

That must be frustrating..... :(

I'm working on my project as fast as I can! I want to have it done in time to put away for winter. :D

Check my signature for a link to the project if you want to follow in detail.

Well its kind of funny when you walk in and the guy takes a drink from his beer and says "what can I do for ya" You know your in trouble. LOL

Your part number is a huge help. I found a place on line that may be able to help me find what I need.

I'am watching your project, have no fear bout that.:D

If the letters/numbers/striping are still visible, take a photograph and LXWXH measurements and then visit a local graphics shop that does vinyl insignias. They can make a decal for not much $$.

There's a company on ebay that reproduces all the old decals. You can get specific years through their store.
