hey all!, I am going to restore a Malibu, and I am looking at putting an inboard with a leg in it. I have found difficulties firstly in the motor, have got some mixed responces, obviously I dont want to have a gas-guzzeling motor, but I want the performance, and light weight. Modern motors are light weight, but have a brain box, that can be tricky, and when have problems, i don't want to be paddeling home!. I am also leaning towards a retractable rear leg as I think it will suit my uses for the boat. As for the leg, I would like a leg that can handle about 400-450hp, and be able to swing up a bit too,
any thoughts?
thanks!

Ayuh,... If this hull currently is set up for an Inboard,...
Going to an I/O probably isn't feasible, due to the bottom design...

its 21 foot long, 6" 5' wide about 3 1/2 deep in the back, and deepest point is about 6 foot back from the stem, and its about 4 1/2 deep there. its setup for an inboard motor, and it origionaly had a leg on it!

Ayuh,...You've gotta figure out the lingo that goes with Boatin'...
What that quote says is it originally had an I/O...
That means a motor mounted inside the boat, with an Outdrive mounted behind it...
A leg is 1 of the 2 things you walk on,... Not something that propells a boat...

If this is So,...
Who's Outdrive,+ Motor was it,..?? Merc,..?? OMC,..?? Volvo,..??
What was there originally, has Alot to do with just which way you Can go,+ how hard it'll be to get there...
