One of the MFG details I like most, is a thing I call, an arrowhead. I've heard them called everything from Gunnel trim to rub-rail ends. If your boat has a full compliment, consider yourself lucky

The others I had, were really rough.
 I tried to polish them, but the castings were too badly pitted. So I decided to paint them instead. Here is how I did it............

One of the tricks I've learned when using a Metalized paint, is to have a very good undercoat. Metalizer paint shows everything. Now, I wanted these to be shiny, (I do like shiny things)
  Sooo, I painted  them BLACK.... Yup..... black! and it's an enamel too.
