Re: Retrieving advice - can't get boat to center

Success! I used the silicone spray, and backed up just barely enough to make contact with the keel rollers, which helped a lot. The guide-on's are 2x4's attached with 1/4 inch steel that is not going to bend. I tried to pull them in closer with a ratchet strap and the boards ripped out, so short of a metal brake it's not going anywhere. I would cut them off, but I guess they still catch the boat when backed in deep for launching and keep the boat from floating sideways.

The last think I did was replace the inner carpeted plywood that lines the wheel covers with 1/4" ABS plastic sheeting that I got on eBay. Then I lowered the bunks another inch, so now the boat sits wedged snugly between the wheel covers by about an inch. I'm a little worried that rubbing from the black plastic on fiberglass will mar the hull finish, but I figure the plastic will take the brunt of it, and it should no more damage than rubbing on a PVC guide-on pipe.

If I get a chance I'll post a picture next time I have it loaded up.

If your trailer doesn't have bunks at the front (bow) i would suggest just putting some there. When you retrive your boat they will be pretty much out of the water and will guide the boat on straight.

I'm still not sure about how to keep the wheel cover metal from scratching the hull though if I do end up off center.

EZ Loader 1.jpg I added these on my last boat to prevent hitting the wheel wells and it helped center the boat.
