Getting my boat ready for the next day I mixed up my positive and negative cables wrong. I had to replace my trim fuse and the fuse to start the motor. Trim works fine but once I rotate the key to start I hear the beep than it blows the fuse (20 amp) . Trim still works My Motor is a 2007 Mercury 50 ELPT 4S HP . As I live not near a dealership to get this fixed I just need to know what part has to be replaced I will order it and replace it any help would be most helpful

You blew your rectifier/regulator at least. Possibly the switchbox too.

Switchbox ??? The regulator will have blown, but lets hope the rest of the electronic systems are OK ?

You could unplug the wires going into the regulator and try it ?

Well, it turns the AC into a controlled DC voltage to change the battery. As I said, it will run without it, so try that first ?
