reverse rotation starter question

Here is what i plan on doing, I am replacing my blown 351 in a mid 80s natique, the blown 351 is stanard rotation, LH prop, (seems like an oddball for a mid 80s natique) and the starter is also standard rotation and engages the flexplate from the engine side (not the trans side).

The new 351 is reverse rotation and, has a very similar tranny but the starter engages from the tranny side since it is a reverse rotation.

I plan on using the old tranny with the newer engine, and switching to a RH prop. I already know how to switch the flow of the trans pump for the newer RR motor. Can i still use this trans with this motor and buy a reverse rotation starter, is there such thing? Im not a boat guy, so its all new to me.

I would use the trans that came with the new motor (starter on trans side), except I think i will have clerance problems with the starter and the engine cover.

Hope I made sence
thanks Shawn

Re: reverse rotation starter question

just remember on a standard engine side install ,use a standard starter for std rot.and visa versa
on an engine W /rear entry(trans side)the starter is a standard rot. for reverse rot. and reverse rot. starter for standard rot. motor.
