Reversed trim wiring question.

I have a '92 Evinrude 150hp and I rewired and put in new Faria gauges. My trim gauge operates opposite of what the motor is actually doing. I'm sure its an easy fix but I can't figure it out. I didn't change any of the wiring in the control box with the relays or the cable coming back to the dash. Originally the boat had no trim gauge and I added one so I put the red to the "I" terminal for power and the black for the ground. The white/tan I put on the sender terminal. It actuates with the motor fine just in reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:/

try changing you red and your white. since you already know black is your ground

Re: Reversed trim wiring question.

I suspect your trim gauge doesn't match your sender, there are different resistance values for different engines. Go to this link and read the trouble shooting guide on Trim Gauges, it will give you the ranges by manufacturer.

Agree with BoatinBob, OMC trim senders are opposite of others eg Merc in terms of resistance and guage position. Need guage matched for OMC sender
