Question, My boat has 10g wired receptical with 30A in line fuse for bow mount trolling motor.
I ran a Minnkota 50lb power drive for four years with this set up.
I recently bought a 55 auto pilot for a replacement. The power cord on this motor has a warning sticker to use at least a 8ga wire with a 50 amp manual reset circut breaker.
How would you guys set this up?
From my battery to recptical is less than 4 feet. By the looks of things Ill have to buy a heaver receptical (mounted at front bow) Mine has the cheaper motor plugs that Cabelas sells.
My 50pd worked fine with my current set up. How critical is the rewire for the 55ap? Does the 55ap use much more amperage?
Thanks to all

P.S. I would like to add that my current 10g wiring is factory in a Lund fisherman.

Hate to say this but there must be a reason for the warning. Also ther might be a bigger surge current than your older setup. I would buy the switch/breaker and a bit o wire.
