Rewiring batteries, adding switch, help plz

You plug your onboard charger into 110VAC when you are done with your boat so your motor isn't on then right?

OK that is where I was mixed up. I didn't understand how one would work while actually using the boat. For some reason I was thinking of it being similar to an alternator but I guess I'm a big idiot on that one.

Or you can install an inverter AND an on-board charger. Power the inverter from the the battery, plug the charger into the inverter and connect the charger to the battery. Eureka - perpetual motion! I'M KIDDING!!!!!! But I'm betting someone has actually tried this.
