Re: Rhumatory athritis??

RA has no particular age. it can be crippiling.
I am retired from the USN due to an arthritic condition that started in my late 20's. the USN never could isolate it, whats funny is last dec a dr in venezuela did, diagnoisis was sponyloartheritis. about the only nice thing is so far the only major group not involved is my spine. but he is telling me to save for a new set of hips.
lots of info on RA on the net though.

Yes, go to the doctor. There's a lot of anti-inflamatories on the market, although some have been withdrawn. If you truly have RA, there are a couple of new drugs that will the stop progression, i.e. Enbrel, Humira. Anti-inflamatories(Alieve, Motrine, Relafin, etc) will not stop the progression.

Wife's RA first started when she was about 30. She's 58 now. Diagnosis made way back then. I think there's a blood test although I'm not sure it's proof positive.

Re: Rhumatory athritis??

I started having problems at around 28. After several years and about every kind of test you can think of they told me I had RA. It kept getting worse to the point where I had to leave my job at age 40. Now at age 47 I am on top shelf meds and developing problems from the medication. RA can effect more then just your joints. It can also effect you organs. It can be as mild as a few sore joints to as severe as being bed ridden. I never make plans because I can't tell you today what tomorrow will be like.
Go get tested because if they treat it hard and fast at the beginning stages they can better control it. They say it will usually effect both knees, both shoulders, both ankles and such but I was more one sided like you.
