My 1989 125 Force outboard has no zincs (self-sacrificing anodes) on it that I can see. I'm getting ready to put it in a (saltwater) marina for the first time.

Where are the zincs? Can I just drill a hole in the center of the skeg and put a plain round one on?

If you take the propeller off, it should have a circular zinc mounted around the hole where the propeller shaft comes out. It's held in place with two large screws.

And, someplace--I don't remember where --they sell a zinc that will replace the stainless slotted plug on the top of the head. Need more? Drill a couple of holes in the Anti-ventilation plate and mount a flat one on the top of it.

AND---It wouldn't hurt to carefully drill a couple of holes in the bottom bracket of the trim cylinder (careful, miss the cylinder itself) and mount a flat plate there. Similat to what Merc does.

Does it have one of them "trim" things on the lower unit?

Thanks. I'll look at that trim cylinder bracket idea. My old motor had a really badly corroded one, so it would not hurt to put some extra protection on this one.

I would have expected to see the "head" zinc here, but I don't:

They remove the letters to protect their site.
They don't want you to advertise anothers site.
A grounding plate.Seen on bigger boats can be installed.
It's installed on the transom under the water line. Then ground wires are added between the plate and the negative/ground side of the motor.J
