I changed out a 2 blade brass prop, that was on my 1975 Merc 850 85hp,to a 3 blade Quicksilver lightining thro flo with a 19" pitch ss prop that i had on a 2004 90hp that was on a boat that i use to have. It's on a skeeter strada F80,15 ft that weights about 700lb empty. It comes out of the hole quick! and seems to run fine with it on,except it had a little side pull, but i fixed it, by tab stablizers. The RPM gauge doesn't work.but it don't sound like it's winding out.I just worry if i did the right thing by changing props,i don't want to damage my motor.any help would be apperciated!I also still have the old prop,If you think i need to change  back.

THANKS! Allen

Re: Right Prop?

You really need to know the motor RPM to make a true assessment.
Motor needs to run close to the top RPM at WOT.

Re: Right Prop?

I found out in my Seloc outboard maneul that my 1975 Merc 850 85hp rpms run at 4800 to 5500 rpms.
