Re: right way to fix

ok for you, I would suggest replacing the axle, if it were me I would weld it back together and call it good but I think your looking at the difference of paying a welder to repair it versus replacing it and when I look at the pricing I think its pretty much a toss up, knowing that why would you repair a broken axle when you can replace with a new one for nearly the same price, if you know enough to move the axle back then you have enough knowledge to replace it with a new one.

Right way to fix? Replace the axle. The camber/toe are not right now due to the damage. The toe you may be able to get away with, but the camber is never going to be back to spec. The manufactures designed flex in the camber of the axle is gone and welding is not going to get that back. Will welding work? sure, but not the "right way to fix".

That crack is on the axle?
In this case I withdraw my repair comment and will say that I agree with the later coments.
Replace the axle. You may get the camber close but this is a big safety concern regardless.
And bigger photos and more of a description are always better!

I wouldn't think its a custom axle but you will need to know the measurements to find a replacement. I will give you link to show you how. You should be able to find one from several sources. A local trailer supply is often the easiest. like tractor supply or a look in the phone book. And you can find many on line but I recommend a local place if you have one. Less hassle to get ever thing you need. Including new hubs and bearings, But you will have to measure the wheel studs to work with your existing wheels.

Last is how to find the 10 %. Their several different ways personally I find it simpler to have the loaded trailer weighted at a local farm supply place. Their is always one around some place and because they sell feed in bulk by the truck load so they have drive on scales, pull up on it unhitch the tailer and you get the weight.

Hope this helps you out.

yes it will work but you will have to change a few things, my advice is to buy a square tube axle and be done with it, they are very common and you should be able to find a direct replacement for your axle pretty easy, then all you have to do is replace the U bolts and bolt the new axle up. Probably take you a couple hours even for the very least mechanically inclined which you are not.

As said, try to find a hitch and trailer shop nearby cause you may need to make more than one trip. Also, online shopping for these kind of things is useless cause shipping will be monstruous.

If you want to look online try abctrailerparts.com. If yours is custom he can do it for an extra $10. Unless something drastic happened since I got mine it's still cheaper even after shipping.
