Hello all, I wanted to post some pics of a a recently completed project. This project was completed on my 1995 Rinker Captiva 212 Open Bow. When I purchased the boat last year I noticed that both the driver's and passenger side dashes were in bad shape. From the factory, Rinker had used an injection molded plastic to create a shell and then covered this in marine grade vinyl.
The problem with this method is that with several years in the hot baking sun, the plastic had started to get extremely brittle and began to crack. Finally, one hot summer day last year, my wife put her feet on the passenger side dash and it fell to the floor. Being, the DYI'er I am, I set out to come up with a solution for this problem.
Below are some photos of how I did this project. I would imagine that there are at least a few people out there with the same problem.
