Re: Rippoff Alert!!! Craigslist!!!

You ought to see if your local FBI office is interested in this. I know they can't deal with all of them, because there are so many scams, but you never know. EBay might be interested in it too.

One of the things about the correspondence that cracks me up is that this bozo contnually spells "information" as "informations. He does the same thing with the word "debt" and puts the "$" sign after the amount. That's a pretty good tip off the the person is not an english speaker as a first language.

Another tipoff is the use of "+1" in the phone number. The digit "1" is the country code for the US - you would not use it unless you were calling from outside the country. Obviously, no one who lives here uses this convention when advertising a phone number in the US.

I have less patience to fool with these guys than you do, so my usual game is to reply with great enthusiasm that I will buy the boat, car, motorcycle, whatever, but that they should send me a money order for an amount that reflects the sale price plus the shipping fee. I then tell them that I will pay the shipper the whole amount and have that shipper forward the difference to the scammer.

Gee, I wonder why that is always that last communication that occurs on the matter? ;)

THIS IS THE BEST PART:D:D:D:D:D CLASSIC...

Please NOTE: However, Money Gram is designed mainly for sending cash to friends and family in need ( person to person ), so telling them you are sending the money to an eBay Transaction you will pay much more fees and it will prevent your money transfer to go through and you will be unable to complete this Transaction.

I would love to have just 5 minutes with one of these nigerian bozos.....I would hand cuff him to a tree and then get out my replica Davy Crockett mule skinning knife and the rest would be slow .real slow....His screams would be heard 3 miles away.

Craigslist started out as a very good service but it has gotten way out of hand. One would have to looks thru crap load of bogus ads just to find a legit one. I wish they would charge a fee for placing an ad then maybe there wouldn't be so much craps.

Re: Rippoff Alert!!! Craigslist!!!

i think it depends a lot on location. Craigslist here is a very good service. Oh sure we have a few 'tards who place a scam now and then but overall, they are few and far between.
I have used it a few times to sell and buy items. the draw of the system is that it's free for the common user. if it weren't free I wouldn't have used it.
it just requires users to be somewhat intelligent and not deal with the scammers. as said above flag and move on.

Had a deal just like this only a car one time and I contacted E-Bay and they confirmed that is was a scam. Report it to them also. They were glad I did.

The last price for the boat is 4400$. I was fired from my job because the financial crises that affected almost everyone including the company I worked at.I'm in a hurry to find a buyer because I'm in debts with my bank, so now you can see the reason why I'm selling my boat at 4400$. I want to make this transaction through eBay's Vehicle Purchase Program. I want eBay because they are the biggest Company and we can close this deal fast and safe for both of us.If you are interested to buy email me your full name and shipping address so I can open the case with eBay.

Re: Rippoff Alert!!! Craigslist!!!

All kinds of undesirables on Craigslist and other sites. One of the Mods on a motorcycle forum had his 2007 Kawasaki sport bike for sale.

Nice, well spoken guy came over to check it out and asked if he could ride it in the parking lot. The seller let him use his helmet and gloves for the parking lot ride.

The guy took off with the cycle and the car he came in was stolen.

Took the cops a hour to show up and they said "your cycle is gone, call your insurance company".

Not sure if it's the same guy but some guy did this in Southaven, MS so the cop's put out another bogus ad in CL listing another bike and guess what? Yep, here he comes again, same guy, same trick but this time they caught him. :D

these cases always prey on a buyers greed.

I respectfully disagree. I have gotten some stellar deals on craigslist. One example is a universal gym for $20 because the owners parents just wanted it out of there basement (owner was home for 1 week on vacation and had to get rid of it), or the $300 bagger for my mower that I got used for $30. Is it greed to jump on a good deal?? No! I would never buy anything on C.L. site unseen or if I couldn't hand cash or certified check directly to the owner.

what they do with those scams has to do with the check itself. it will initially clear with the bank, and then they will find out its bogus.

Did you report this to Craigslist? I notice that you did notify eBay, but it is really a CL scam, not eBay.
