I was told by the dealer that the bolts come with the risers.( Not true) I am scrambling around to get bolts and can only find galvanized 3/8in x 8in long 16 tread. I am concerned that I will get a false torque because of the galvanized coating. Stainless steel I can order but will take 2 weeks to get in. Can I use the galvanized? Should I take my dye/ tap set and clean the treads? ( I am thinking yes) but stripping off the galvanize will make them rust out. Should I just sit impatiently for the stainless? I hate leaving the motor open like this even though I have the ports plugged with towels. Help if you can. Thanks.

Ayuh,.... You should be usin' plain ole Steel bolts...

Galvanize has different thread diameters, 'n SSteel is pretty soft...

Re: Riser bolt question.

Some manifolds/risers come with bolts & gaskets as they are sold as a 'kit' others do not. The dealer probably ordered the part and not the kit.

As my friend Bond-o stated, plain old bolts will be fine . . . paint them if you like. You should be able to find something locally and in short order.

Regardless of what kind of bolts you use(doesn't matter)put some Never Seeze on the threads.

Re: Riser bolt question.

Spent all day scraping and trying to get the mounting surface clean. The old gasket is stuck on there so bad. Going to try on off tomorrow. This is the worst part of the job.
